Use pouches straight away or split them into two meals on the same day. How do you feed your dog or cat wet food properly? For dogs Daily requirements depend on weight and activity: Dog 5-10 kg : 400-600g of wet food a day (2 meals) Dog 10-20 kg : 600-900g of wet food a day (2-3 meals) Dog 20-30 kg : 900-1200g of wet food a day (2-3 meals) Dog over 30 kg : 1200g+ of wet food a day (3 meals) For cats Cats eat smaller portions, but more often: Cat 3-4 kg : 200-250g of wet food a day (2-3 meals) Cat 4-6 kg : 250-350g of wet food a day (2-3 meals) Cat over 6 kg : 350-400g of wet food a day (3 meals) You'll always find exact feeding guidelines on the product packaging. Wet food for puppies and kittens Young animals have special nutritional needs. Wet food for puppies and kittens should: Contain more protein (to support growth) Be easy to digest (a delicate digestive system) Have a soft texture (young teeth) Be served more often - 3-4 times a day TUF TUF and BULT food works really well for young animals thanks to its high-quality ingredients and soft texture. Wet food for seniors Older dogs and cats need food that is: Easy to chew and digest Lower in calories (they're less active) Rich in nutrients that support the joints High in water (kidney problems) Wet food naturally supports seniors' health - it's soft, hydrating and easily absorbed. Can you mix wet and dry food? Yes! A mixed diet (wet + dry) is an excellent solution that combines the advantages of both types of food: Wet food : hydration, taste, protein, easy digestion Dry food : dental hygiene, value for money, convenience Popular ratios are: 70% wet food + 30% dry (recommended) 50% wet food + 50% dry (balanced) 30% wet food + 70% dry (economical) Variety of flavours - why does it matter? Animals, like people, appreciate variety in their diet. Rotating flavours: Prevents fussiness - your pet doesn't get stuck on a single flavour Provides a wider range of nutrients Keeps mealtimes interesting Helps detect possible food allergies That's why we recommend mixed-flavour sets - one box gives you several different varieties to rotate throughout the week. Storing wet food - practical tips Unopened packs : store in a cool, dry place Opened tins : cover with a lid and keep in the fridge, max 48h Pouches : use straight away or keep clipped shut for max 24h Serving temperature : room temperature (not straight from the fridge!) Wet food is more natural - it contains more meat and water and is less processed. It's ideal as the basis of the diet, with dry food as an extra. A mixed diet gives the best results. How many times a day should I feed my pet wet food? Adult dogs: 2-3 times a day. Adult cats: 2-3 times a day. Puppies and kittens: 3-4 times a day. Always adjust to your pet's individual needs. Can I feed wet food only? Yes, wet food can make up 100% of the diet, as long as it's complete and balanced (check the packaging for the word "complete"). How much does it cost to feed wet food? The cost depends on the size of your pet. An average cat (4kg): approx. PLN 3-4/day. A medium-sized dog (15kg): approx. PLN 8-12/day. Multipacks bring the cost down. What's the difference between a tin and a pouch? Tins (400-800g) are bigger and economical, and keep longer once opened. Pouches (500g) are enough for one meal for a large dog or several meals for a smaller pet - convenient and hygienic. Why won't my pet eat food straight from the fridge? Animals prefer food at room temperature (close to the temperature of fresh prey). Always take food out of the fridge 15-20 minutes before serving. What does "rich in beef" on the label mean? "Rich in..." means the named ingredient makes up at least 14% of the recipe. "With beef" means at least 4%. Choose products that are "rich in" to be sure of a high meat content. Is TUF TUF food suitable for both cats and dogs? TUF TUF makes separate ranges for dogs and cats - check the product description. Dog food shouldn't be given to cats (they have different nutritional needs), and vice versa. See also: Dog food
